The city of Philadelphia on Monday began the process of purchasing the old Sunflower building on Main Street at Poplar Avenue that once housed the Community Development Partnership and later the District Attorney.

During a special called meeting on June 12 aldermen voted 4-0 to purchase the property, located at 532 Main St. The board authorized the mayor to sign for the city.

The motion was made by Ward 1 Alderman Justin Clearman and seconded by Alderman-at-Large James Waltman to proceed with the purchase at an undisclosed price. Ward 3 Alderman James Tatum was not present.

“We have a ballpark figure,” said Mayor James Young. “We just signed documents today. The attorney is doing the title search.”

Young said the city plans to use the building for office space and other possible uses like storage.

Land records show the property was owned by Triple F Investments LLC. Secretary of State records show Erica Flake as the Registered Agent.
