The general election is Tuesday, Nov. 7, and voters will head to the polls on Nov. 7 to decide a handful of local races as well as legislative and statewide contests. 

Republicans Kevin Cumberland and Kinsey Smith will face Independent challengers in their respective supervisor races, while Democrat Obbie Riley faces a Republican and an Independent challenger. 

Sheriff Eric Clark faces a Democratic challenger, and for the Constable Place 1 Position, Republican John Lilley will face an Independent challenger.

The remaining county races were decided in the August Republican Primary.

Absentee voting is already underway and will remain open until noon, on Saturday, Nov. 4.

In addition to normal business hours, the Circuit Clerk’s Office will be open on Saturday, Oct. 28, and Saturday, Nov. 4, from 8 a.m. to noon. specifically for absentee voting.

Contested county races include:

• Incumbent Republican Sheriff Eric Clark faces off against Democrat Danny Carter.

• Incumbent Republican District 2 Supervisor faces off against Independent John Stokes.

• Incumbent Republican District 3 Supervisor Kinsey Smith faces off against Independent Colby Pope.

• Incumbent Democrat District 5 Supervisor Obbie Riley faces off against Republican David E. Carter and Independent Deric Horne.

• Republican John Lilley faces off against Independent Cortez Peebles in the Place 1 Constable race.

• Melanie Breazeale Barnett and Bill Carter are running in the nonpartisan District 4 Election Commissioner race.

Contested state legislative races include:

• Incumbent Republican C. Scott Bounds faces Libertarian Phillip E. Pope for the District 44 State House of Representatives seat.

• Republican Michael Cassidy faces Democrat Keith Jackson and Independent Trent Rickles for the District 45 State House of Representatives seat. 

Contested statewide races include:

• Incumbent Republican Gov. Tate Reeves faces off against Democrat Brandon Presley and Independent Gwendolyn Gray. 

• Incumbent Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann faces Democrat D. Ryan Grover.

• Incumbent Republican Michael Watson faces Democrat Ty Pinkins.

• Incumbent Republican Attorney General Lynn Fitch faces Democrat Greta Kemp Martin.

• Incumbent Republican State Auditor Shad White faces Democrat Larry Bradford.

• Incumbent Republican State Treasurer David McRae faces Democrat Addie L. Green.

• Incumbent Republican Ag Commissioner Andy Gipson faces Democrat Robert “Brad” Bradford Sr.

• Incumbent Republican Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney faces Democrat Bruce Burton.

• Incumbent Republican Central District Public Service Commissioner Brent Bailey faces Democrat DeKeither A. Stamps. 

• Incumbent Democrat Central District Transportation Commissioner Willie Simmons faces Republican Ricky Pennington Jr.
