Four people were arrested with crystal methamphetamine during a traffic stop in town last week.

The driver, Harold Sockey, 39, 201 Tiak Chitto Circle, Choctaw, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark.

Also arrested, according to Clark, were three passengers:

• Denicia G. Shaffer, 38, 1006 Black Jack Road, Choctaw, charged with possession of a controlled substance.

• Michael D. Gibson, 46, 144 Rolling Hills, Choctaw, charged with possession of a controlled substance.

• Delana Richelle Williams, 35, 134 Ball Park Road, charged with possession of a controlled substance.

The four were arrested during a traffic stop on Sunday, March 24, at about 7 p.m. on West Beacon Street while riding in a tan 1999 Mercury Marquee driven by Sockey.

Clark said a deputy made the stop in the Auto Zone parking lot after he saw the vehicle being driven in a manner described as “aggressive and careless.”

According to Clark, the deputy reported the smell of alcohol coming from the vehicle.

During the traffic stop, the deputy noticed Gibson was reaching into his pocket. The deputy asked if he had anything in his pocket and Gibson responded “Not that I know of,” according to Clark who said that answer was a “red flag.”

A search revealed a small bag of methamphetamine in his pocket. Gibson reportedly claimed that he borrowed the pants.

A further search of the vehicle revealed a small black jewelry bag near the gear shift that contained more crystal methamphetamine, the authorities said.
