While COVID-19 cases in Neshoba County are growing at a slower pace than in past months, the county recorded two new deaths and three new cases in the past week, according to the Mississippi State Department of Health’s Tuesday report.

Neshoba County’s total COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began is now 4,033, which is three more than last week, and the death toll has risen to 178, up two from last week’s report, according to the MSDH. 

Meanwhile, 18% of Neshoba County’s population is fully vaccinated as of Monday, according to MSDH and 20% of the county’s population has received one of the 11,079 total doses of COVID-19 vaccines administered in the county.

Vaccinations are being administered Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Coliseum, 12000 Hwy 15 North, Philadelphia and are available to all Mississippians 16 and older.

The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians has reported one new positive case of COVID-19 and no new deaths as of May 16, putting the total number of positive cases for the Tribe at 1,838 with 114 deaths. No new hospitalizations have been reported.
