Police cite teen after reckless driving results in loss of electricty at Northside
Police have charged a teen in connection with a motor vehicle accident that damaged a transformer box at the Northside Park soccer fields last Thursday afternoon.
Philadelphia Police Det. Bobby Pattillo said that Isaiah Frazier, 17, was ticketed for the incident in which eyewitnesses said he was cutting doughnuts in his vehicle when he lost control and hit a transformer box that feeds the concession stand and field lights.
Frazier then fled the scene, according to authorities.
Frazier was cited for leaving the scene of an accident, no proof of liability insurance and no driver’s license, Pattillo said.
A social media post on the Northside Park Facebook page said that the incident happened around 12:20 p.m. on Thursday, April 29. The post reports thousands of dollars in estimated damages. Total damages have not been reported yet.
“Please know when you come to the parks acting stupid, it will be consequences to the fullest extent allowed,” the post read.
The post said that police were able to locate and catch the suspect, who would later be identified as Frazier, due to eyewitness accounts of the incident.
Philadelphia Utilities responded to the scene to restore power. The Philadelphia Police Department and the Philadelphia Fire Department also responded to the scene.
