The ‘Elf’ showing at Neshoba Central has been canceled.

Our original story reported:

Nehsoba Central students are hosting a family movie event on the football field on Saturday with the hope of sparking a local tradition.

“This is our first time to host a movie day for the community,” said Allison Cook, one of the organizers..

NCHS Digital Media Club, Science Club and Theatre are sponsoring Brunch with Buddy the Elf on Saturday, Dec. 16, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Rocket Field.

The 2003 film “Elf” will be shown on the field’s jumbotron. Cook said guests will bring chairs and blankets to sit on on the football field to watch the movie.

Tickets will be $5 for adults, $2 for students, and children four and under will get in for free. Attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase brunch concessions and take pictures with Buddy the Elf.

Organizations have done test run events in the past for high school seniors and wanted to expand the event to the community this year.

“We do hope to be able to do it yearly if it’s a successful event,” she said.

“Elf” tells the story of Buddy, a human raised by the elves in Santa’s workshop, who travels to New York City to find his biological father. The film stars Will Ferrell, James Caan, and Zoey Deschanel and is directed by John Favreau.
