A man was airlifted to a Jackson hospital after being shot in the head Monday morning during a domestic dispute in northwest Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Police responded to the 200 block of Carver Avenue at about 6:30 a.m. following reports of a male being shot.

“Upon arrival, officers made contact with the male outside the residence suffering from a gunshot wound to the back of the head,” said Philadelphia Police Chief Eric Lyons.

EMS took the man to Neshoba General, and he was later airlifted to University Medical Center in stable condition, Lyons said.

Investigators learned that the male and his current girlfriend were engaged in a verbal altercation that escalated to a gun being pulled and a shot being fired, Lyons said.

The woman, Felisha Drummond, 48, of Philadelphia, was arrested on assault charges, Lyons said.

She was transported from the emergency room back to the Police Department, where she was interviewed and subsequently charged with domestic violence-aggravated assault, according to Lyons.
