A Brandon man was arrested and charged in connection with a check writing scheme that includes victims locally and in multiple other jurisdictions.

Bradley Keith Curtis, 38, 405 Miles Cove, Brandon, was arrested and charged with felony writing bad checks and false pretense.

He remains in the Neshoba County Detention Center on $11,000 in bond.

Sheriff Eric Clark said Curtis purchased a trailer with a check for $2,568 at Windham Tractor here on Dec. 23. Clark said that he immediately took the trailer to Thomas Gun and Pawn in Forest where he pawned the trailer for $700.

“That was pretty much a straight shot from Windham to the pawnshop in Forest,” Clark said.

Clark said that Windham later found out the check had insufficient funds.

Clark said Curtis was picked up by the Mississippi Agricultural and Livestock Theft Bureau and local law enforcement at his home in Rankin County on Feb. 12.

Clark said Curtis also has city charges pending as he pulled a similar scam at Tractor Supply around the same time in which he wrote a bad check for more than $1,000.

Clark said that Curtis is also a person of interest for similar crimes by Scott County Sheriff’s Office, Meridian Police Department and Rankin County Sheriffs Office.
