Luckett named National Pitcher of the Week

ELLISVILLE — Jones College freshman Nia Luckett of Philadelphia was named the NJCAA Division II National Pitcher of the Week for May 2-8.

The selection was announced Wednesday, May 5, morning. She was named the MACCC Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday, May 4.

Luckett went 2-0 last week. In the 8-0 win over Holmes, she tossed 5.0 innings, allowed no runs, one hit, walked one and struck out 10. In the 8-0 victory over BRCC, she tossed 4.0 innings, allowed no runs, one hit, walked two and struck out six. For the week, she allowed no runs, two hits and struck out 16 in just 9.0 innings of work.

Luckett is 9-4 on the season with 81strikeouts in 69.1 innings pitched with a 2.52 earned run average.
