A Lauderdale County couple was arrested and charged in connection with a house burglary in the House community earlier this month, the authorities said.

Thomas James Boswell, 53, of 2323 Highway 496, Meridian, and Angela Kay Boswell have been arrested and charged with burglary of a dwelling, Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said.

Clark said investigators suspect a third person was involved and that further arrests are likely.

The recent burglary was reported on June 1, off Highway 19 south, he said.

A family of a person who had gone to assisted living reported household appliances and household items taken such as a stove, mattresses, dressers and an old boat motor.

The homeowner was recently placed in assisted living and family members checked on the place and noticed the items missing, Clark said.

Neshoba County deputies searched for an older model station wagon pulling a red single axle trailer that frequented the area, according to family members and neighbors.

Clark said family members had made contact with the vehicle and driver as recently as late last week.

Clark said the whereabouts of the vehicle was identified using license plate readers in Lauderdale County.

“Officers searched for a vehicle for a few days, which it was located on Sunday,” Clark said.

Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Officers made a traffic stop on the car, arrested the Boswells and brought them into the custody of NCSO for questioning.

“Thanks to Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Officers for assisting Neshoba County Investigators with the apprehension of two people that were involved,” Clark said.

Midday Monday the majority of the items were recovered at the couple’s residence in Lauderdale County.

"Cooperation between agencies paid off in this case for the good of our residents," Clark said.
