News from Slovakia-The Senitko family is reunited! The children, Zora, Adam, and Teo, are so happy to be together again. and are having fun playing on the playground, eating ice cream cones, and getting acquainted with their new environment. Adam turned 5 and celebrated with a multi- layered chocolate frosted cake that looked luscious. What a wonderful opportunity for the family to live in their father's native country!

After 36 years of teaching in New Mexico, Louisiana, and Mississippi, I still feel a pang of nostalgia when school begins each year. Being an elementary school teacher was what I chose to do and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the excitement a (not hard work) of preparing the classroom for the students and making it a pleasant environment for them.

One of my favorite memories is teaching at the public school in Tohatchi, New Mexico, on the Navajo reservation. My class was mixed with Anglo and Navajo third graders. It was such fun to watch the children get excited about the snail in the aquarium I set up. My Navajo students had never had an aquarium experience and I don't think many of the Anglos had either. Flowers on my desk were another fascinating bit of wonder. They touched the petals reverently and asked to take them home at the end of the week. Some of them felt comfortable enough to touch my blonde hair! (I think I was alone in being on their level at their desks. I could not teach from behind a desk). I have taught so many wonderful children at PES who are now adults and even have grandchildren, but I am always so pleased to have them recognize and speak to me!
