The arrival of a beautiful baby girl was officially announced by her parents, Tyler and Alex Stuart Stovall. Her name is Sydney Anne Stovall who weighed 8 pounds of pure sweetness! Her big sister, Josie Reese, is entirely and thoroughly smitten. Congratulations!

Welcome to Philadelphia, Father Jofin George! Father George is the new priest at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Philadelphia and as well as at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Louisville. Father George comes to Philadelphia from St. Jude in Pearl.

Father George is from Kannur, Kerala, India. We are so very happy to have you with us and hope you will enjoy getting to know our community.

Huge congratulations to East Central Community College's football team for topping the state on the field and in the classroom! Not only did the team win the 2022 MACC Championship, but they have also been named 2022-2023 MACCC Football All-Academic Team! They posted a conference-high 3.01 GPA for this academic year as a team.

ECCC extended a big thank you to Academic Advisor Abby Jenkins of Philadelphia and all of the coaches, faculty, and administrators for their dedication to helping the team members be great on and off the field.

A surprise visit from her grandson, Isaiah Autry, and her daughter, Pashen Thompson Dent, made Ruby Jean Thompson Brazzle’s heart happy! They came home on Wednesday evening and surprised her at the grocery store! She was surprised and so very delighted to have them here.

East Central Community College honored its instructor of the year and staff member of the year during an end-of-the-year Employee Lunch which was held in the Mabry Cafeteria on the Decatur campus. 

Susan Fox Smith from Philadelphia, a psychology instructor, was honored as the  Instructor of the Year. She retired at the end of the spring term after 19 years of service. Staff Member of the Year was Carole Germany of Union, who has been employed at the college since 1995 as the assistant to College President Dr. Brent Gregory. They each received a plaque and a $500 check from Dr. Gregory. The ECCC Foundation supports the Staff Member of the year award and the ECCC Alumni Association supports the Instructor of the Year award. Congratulations!

Wendee Wells Sanders could not think of a better way to celebrate her birthday than watching her husband, Zach Sanders, receive his award for Softball Coach of the Year at Neshoba Central! His children, Sadee Sanders, and Clay Sanders were also present. Their son, Airman Blake Sanders was away at Summer Drill. Congratulations!!
