Tyler Holland was awarded a scholarship of $35,000.00 for his first year of medical school during the Mississippi Rural Physicians Scholarship Presentation Ceremony in Jackson on June 27. The ceremony was held in the Agriculture & Forestry Museum’s Sparkman Auditorium. He will be a member of the class of 2027.

His very proud parents, Tommy and Sharon Eldridge Holland, and his soon-to-be wife, Brooke Paige Watkins, were present in the audience. Congratulations and best wishes!

Congratulations to Paul and Cindy Hall Payne who celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary on June 29. Best wishes for many more happy years together!

Good news! Shirley Cox has moved home from swing bed where she enjoys having friends and her family visit. She was away from home for over 102 days and is glad to be in her familiar surroundings. Welcome home!

Congratulations to Neshoba County's Reward "A" Scholarship Winner, Zariyah Jackson and Philadelphia High School! The program is sponsored by The Citizens Bank of Philadelphia.

Each student who wins receives $1,000 and the student's school is awarded $500! The Citizens Bank said that they are "thankful for each of the communities we serve and are glad to give back to our local students and schools." Thank you to the Citizens Bank for its contributions to our community.

After six years as a member of  the  Pensacola Little Theater team which has "been one of the most fulfilling and humbling experiences" of his life, Sid Williams-Heath is transitioning into a brand new role and will have the immense pleasure and responsibility of serving as the first CEO of The Clark Family Cultural Center. Sid feels truly honored and appreciates their faith in his ability to serve in this position. He looks forward to the future of the PLT and continuing to be a part of the team on a different level. 

His parents are Sid and Mickie Edmisson Williams of Philadelphia. Congratulations!

Sid and Mickie Edmisson reached a milestone Wedding Anniversary of 46 years on June 24th. They have three children, Lindsey Williams Eakes, Sidney Williams-Heath, and John Williams,  and several beautiful grandchildren. Congratulations!

The Mississippi Songwriter of the Year 2023 show was held at Marty Stuart's Congress of Country Music's historic Ellis Theater in Philadelphia on Saturday evening, June 24.

The 15 finalists each performed the song he/she had written on the stage. Naomi Taylor from Pearl, was named the 2023 Mississippi Songwriter of the Year. Scott Fieber was selected as the Woodstock Furniture People's Choice Award winner. Congratulations!

Bright and early on Monday morning, June 26, a group of youth from East Philadelphia Baptist Church boarded the church bus for MFuge 2023 St. Louis, Missouri, where they served in the city. It was an interesting and enlightening experience for the group who volunteered to attend. They also found time to have some fun and make new friends.
