Just Among Friends
Jackson Mitchell found his niche as a member of Neshoba Central's FFA organization. He discovered an aptitude for taking apart motors and working on trucks.
FFA aroused the high school junior's interest in nontraditional avenues toward a career as opposed to college and eventually led him to East Central Community College's Diesel Mechanic Program. Jackson was awarded a $1,000 scholarship by Neshoba County's Allies for Education which will pay tuition for the one year ECCC program. After successfully completing the program, Jackson will be a certified diesel technician. He will be dually enrolled in Neshoba Central for his senior year, and ECCC. He may also continue at ECCC and earn an associate degree in one additional year. This is the first time Allies for Education has included high school juniors in the application process. The Citizens Bank sponsored a program for students who registered their A's for each grading period. At the conclusion of the school year, those who reported their A's each received a $1,000 scholarship and their schools received $500 for encouraging them to do so. Citizens Bank appreciates all of the communities it serves and is glad to give back to the local communities. Congratulations to Zac LeBlanc and Mollie Kuntz who were recipients of this award.

Friends of Dr. Bill Molpus have been so very thankful to learn of his recovery and ongoing recuperation from COVID-19. He spent three weeks in Baptist Hospital in Jackson before being discharged to recuperate at home. His daughter and son-in-law, Mitchell and Mary Margaret Molpus Logan came from Ruston, Louisiana to lend moral support and help any way they could. He continues to improve. So very glad!

Much to the delight of tiny Miss Camille McCoy, her family celebrated her second birthday with a Minnie Mouse theme. She was appropriately dressed in a red T-shirt with a Minnie Mouse silhouette on the front and the numeral 2 across it. Her outfit was completed by a pair of black mouse ears with a red and white polka dotted bow on top and a huge smile.

Goodway Baptist Church was the site for its Education Committee's first ACT workshop on June 11th. The members of the committee expressed their thanks to everyone who helped make it a success, including Pastor Willie Rush for allowing them to use the facilities and the church nurse, Sonya Yvette Roberts, who made sure there were plenty of thermometers and hand sanitizer available prior to and during the entire workshop. It was well attended by a great group of young people.
These ACT workshops are vital to those planning to take the test because they give them an idea of the test format and construction which contribute to test taking skills. Students will not be as stressed out if they have an idea of what to expect from the test. This is a wonderful way to help our community. Thank you to the Education Committee!

The week of May 19, 2020 was Graduation Week at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Each day during the week, students were celebrated who received degrees from one of the schools and would have been walking across the stage during commencement that week. Although the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the ceremony, UMMC is still proud of the newest health care professionals and excited to see the amazing things they will accomplish.
Among those graduating from UMMC is Bailey Lauren Whittle who earned a Masters Degree of Occupational Therapy. Her very proud husband is Zach Whittle. Congratulations and Best Wishes!

Congratulations to Walker Beckham who made the President's List at East Central Community College for the spring semester! He is a recent graduate with an associate degree who will attend Mississippi State University in the fall. His parents are Shannon and Amanda Elwood Beckham.
