The Senior Citizens Center at Northside Park was filled with beautiful young women dressed in glamorous evening attire and young men in their choice of dress-up clothes for Neshoba Central’s Winter Formal.

This is a highly anticipated event which always draws a crowd. The room was transformed with decorations which added to the festive ambiance. Music was played by a DJ who kept the dance floor filled with dancers.

Snacks and soft drinks were served and Gamble Miller Martin was busy taking pictures for keepsake photos. This was a fun evening for the seniors because it was the last formal they will attend. Bittersweet memories for many of them!

The Neshoba Central Middle School 6th grade students had a really great time last Wednesday when they attended MSU Women’s Basketball Education Day in Starkville.

Each student received a swag bag, selfies with the players and cheerleaders, basketball schedules autographed by the players, and “high-fives” from Bully. NCMS Beta provided delicious Chick-Fil-A lunch boxes which were really a treat! The event was free and the students had so much fun!

Philadelphia High School Class of 1983 had the best time at their 40th Class Reunion last weekend! A total of 58 guests including classmates and their spouses attended.

The center was beautifully decorated in the school colors of red and black with school memorabilia displayed on tables covered in black cloth. Huge bunches of balloons in red, white, and black formed a center for guests to have pictures taken.

The dining tables were set with long white tablecloths and a black runner down the center topped with a crushed red topper and white floral arrangements down the center. It looked lovely. The red Philly Tornadoes mascot was displayed with “Welcome Class of 1983 Philadelphia High School” in huge letters.

Veronica Hunter Molpus, Lisa Roper Thomas, and Maggie Burnside helped with decorating. Rob Robinson was the only class officer who was able to attend. Rob, Carla Cox Martin, Connie Donald, and Henry Anderson organized it, while many others helped with different tasks. Harvin Hudson and his crew cooked a fried fish and catfish dinner. DJ Bird played the music. Kriket Williams Utz traveled the farthest, but there were quite a few from outside of Mississippi who attended. One fun activity was passing the microphone around and asking each person to tell some of their favorite high school memories and another round for news of their current lives. Deceased teachers and classmates were remembered by the group. They really had a wonderful time!

This mass commemorated the faithful departed souls who are buried in the cemetery and who were instrumental in starting Holy Cross in the area before moving it into Philadelphia.

Father Jofin George, pastor, celebrated the mass.
