SEPTEMBER 29, 1939
Miss Laree Mowdy and Miss Arlie Ruth Smith of the House 4-H Club won second place in Clothing Judging at the Mid South Fair recently held in Memphis, Tennessee. Fourteen clothing teams entered from four states represented. Miss Elizabeth Cole, member of the Forest Dale 4-H Club, was among the highest ten in the poultry judging contest. Neshoba Countians are proud of the excellent showing made by these contestants.
SEPTEMBER 30, 1949
C.H. (Shine) Hays has been awarded the Rexall Drug Company Certificate of Merit which was recently presented by International Association of Rexall Clubs and the Rexall Drug Company. This award, an engraved certificate, was given in recognition of the outstanding merchandising ability and exceptional service tot his community.
OCTOBER 1, 1959
Patricia Hill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Breland Hill of Philadelphia, was chosen Friday afternoon as the 1960 Neshoba County "Queen of the Forest", in a contest held at the Neshoba County High School. Miss Hill was crowned by Miss Linda Thrash, Neshoba County 1959 Queen of the Forest. Miss Hill just this week was named Miss Farm Bureau to represent the county for the coming year. In Forestry contest Miss Hill will represent the county in district contest.

The Choctaw Central High School homecoming court of 1969 have been announced and the girls are; Marilyn Frazier, freshman maid, Gwendolyn Frazier, junior maid, Rexene Shumake, queen, Rella Bee Isaac, senior maid, and Peggy Darden, sophomore maid.

Jimmy Barrett, formerly of Philadelphia, is the new store manager for Fred's Discount Stores in Yazoo City. Barrett's parents are Louis Ray and Martha Barrett, and they are employed at the Wells-Lamont Glove Factory in Philadelphia. He is married to the former Diane Herrington and is a 1973 graduate of Neshoba Central High School.
OCTOBER 4, 1989
John L. McKee displayed his Pulse 400 rocket car. Legally the "fun machine" is a glorified motorcycle with a top speed of 105 miles per hour. The two-wheeled Pulse is equipped with a cockpit and outrigger wheels on each side that resembles wings. The aerodynamically shaped 1986 Pulse is powered by a motorcycle engine and averages 75 miles per gallon.

Philadelphia High School teacher Jackie Sampsell is speechless after receiving a $25,000 Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award. Samples did not know she was receiving this award, or even that she had been nominated, until her name was announced by state Superintendent of Education Richard Thompson before an assembly of students, faculty, and administrators.

Chloe Pinter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Pinter, received awards fro placing first in both the Breads judging competition and the Food-Nutrition visual presentation competition. Presenting her the award is Dr. Brent Fountain, Food, and Nutrition Specialist.
