The Directors of the Neshoba County Fair Association met last Friday at 10 a.m. to make plans for the coming Fair. Committees were appointed and Fair dates were set.
The many friends of Mr. Warren Candler Jones of Magnolia, Miss., formerly of Philadelphia, will be glad to learn that he is one of four boys from Miss. to be awarded a medical scholarship to Tulane University in New Orleans, La.
April 22, 1954
An application now before the BAWI Board in Jackson is expected to be acted upon favorable within the next few days giving permission for the city of Philadelphia to issue $70,000 in bonds for an expansion program at the local Wells-Lamont Glove factory.
Mrs. Earline Beall, wife of A.E. Beall, organization director of Mississippi Federated Cooperatives, won the "Mrs. Mississippi" title at Biloxi on April 10 and will represent this state in the "Mrs. America" contest at Ellinor Village, Daytona Beach, Fla.

Plans and specification of the proposed new sanctuary at the First Baptist Church here were approved last Sunday by the congregation and bids will be invited, it was announced this week.
Sheriff Lawrence Rainey and Deputy Cecil Price seized 24 cases of beer and one fifth of vodka about 3:00 a.m. last Saturday morning and the 1963 Fairlane Ford car the items were being hauled in.

Hugh Thomasson, president of the Philadelphia Country Club, today announced that Bankers Trust Savings and Loan Association has agreed to loan $250,000 for new facilities.
Sheriff Melton Bounds said Wednesday that warrants for the arrest of two men charged with the armed robbery of Paul Williamson's Grocery in the Shady Grove community had been issued.

Pat H. Peterman and biologist Walter Parker of the Department of Wildlife Conservation deposited 16,000 Florida largemouth bass into Neshoba County Lake. Gerald and Roma Winstead.

Personnel decisions, including the appointment of a temporary purchase clerk, dominated the Monday meeting of the Neshoba County Board of Supervisors.
More than $13,000 was raised at a benefit auction last weekend to help finance two foreign mission trips by members of First United Methodist Church.
