The jury which decided the fate of Edgar Ray Killen consisted of nine whites and three blacks who work as nurses, educators, and in a variety of other professions.
It included:
•A 72-year-old white female who is a 28-year resident of Neshoba County. She has two children, and is originally from Quitman. She currently lives in Union. She is a high school graduate, a homemaker and is married to a cattle farmer.
• A 55-year-old white female who is a 29-year resident of Neshoba County. She has two children, and is originally from McComb. She currently lives in Philadelphia. She is a college graduate, a registered nurse, and is married to a retiree.
• A 40-year-old white male who is a 25-year resident of Neshoba County. He has no children, and is originally from Canton. He currently lives in Philadelphia. He is a college graduate, a teacher and coach and was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard. He is married to a local resident.
• A 27-year-old black female who is a lifelong resident of Neshoba County. She has no children, and currently lives in an unincorporated area of Neshoba County. She is a high school graduate, is not married, and is an employee of an auto manufacturing plant.
• A 34-year-old white female who is a nine-year resident of Neshoba County. She has no children, and currently lives in an unincorporated area of Neshoba County. She is originally from Gulfport. She is a college graduate, is not married, and works as a technical services librarian.
• A 36-year-old black male who is a 32-year resident of Neshoba County. He has no children, and currently lives in Philadelphia. He is a college graduate, is not married, and is an employee of a local plant. He is originally from Chicago.
• A 50-year-old white female who is a lifelong resident of Neshoba County. She has one child, and currently lives in an unincorporated area of Neshoba County. She is a high school graduate, an employee of a local company, and is married to an engineer.
•A 56-year-old white female who is a 20-year resident of Neshoba County. She has three children, and currently lives in Philadelphia. She is originally from Vallejo, Calif. She is a college graduate and an office manager. She is married to a sales manager.
•A 36-year-old white male who is a 30-year resident of Neshoba County. He has two children, and currently lives in an unincorporated area of Neshoba County. He is originally from Meridian. He is a graduate of graduate school, a teacher, and is married to a teacher.
•A 42-year-old black male who is a lifelong resident of Neshoba County. He has three children, and currently lives in Philadelphia. He is a high school graduate, a bus driver and assistant teacher, and is married to a local resident.
• A 61-year-old white female who is a 27-year resident of Neshoba County. She has two children, and currently lives in Philadelphia. She is originally from Somerset, Ky. She is a college graduate, a registered nurse, and is married to a dietician.
• A 27-year-old white male is a lifelong resident of Neshoba County. He has one child, and currently lives in Union. He is a high school graduate, is not married, and works as a technician.
•A 54-year-old white male who is a 12-year resident of Neshoba County. He has no children, and currently lives in Philadelphia. He is originally from Alhambra, Calif. He is a college graduate, an engineer, and is married to a local resident.
The alternates included:
•A 54-year-old black female who is a lifelong resident of Neshoba County. She has two children, and currently lives in Philadelphia. She is a college graduate, a social worker, and is married to an employee of a local company.
•A 46-year-old white female who is a 27-year resident of Neshoba County. She has three children, and currently lives in Union. She is originally from Crossett, Ark. She is a high school graduate, a farmer and chicken farmer, and is married to a truck driver.
•A 48-year-old white female who is a lifelong resident of Neshoba County. She has two children, and currently lives in Philadelphia. She is a college graduate, currently works for a casino, and is married to a local resident.
• A 44-year-old white female who is a 20-year resident of Neshoba County. She has two children, and currently lives in Philadelphia. She is originally from Alexandria, La. She completed graduate school, is a teacher, and is married to a local resident.
