A Philadelphia man arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting Thursday afternoon was out on parole but remains in custody this week.

The man, Roderick J. Talley, 24, 505 Pleasant Valley Drive, has been arrested and charged with the murder of 23-year-old Kendall Triplett of Philadelphia, according to Philadelphia Police Chief Eric Lyons.

Jail records show Talley has not been issued bond and remains in custody at the Winston County Jail with a hold from the Mississippi Department of Corrections for a parole violation.

On Thursday, Dec. 7, officers were dispatched to the corner of Powell Street and Clyde Avenue on reports of a suspicious vehicle parked for several hours.

Upon arrival, officers noticed the vehicle parked in a driveway leading into a wooded area off Clyde Ave.

Lyons said officers approached and discovered a black male in the driver's seat with a gunshot wound to the head who was later identified as Triplett.

The initial investigation believed Triplett to be deceased for several hours.

Further investigation led to the identification of Talley as a suspect. He was picked up at his residence on Pleasant Valley Drive about eight hours after Triplett’s body was found, Lyons said.

Investigators recovered evidence from the scene and additional information throughout the evening that led to Talley being arrested and charged with the murder.

Lyons said they believe the shooting occurred at the location where Triplett was discovered.
