Aldermen approve mayor’s pay raise
Mayor James A Young has received a $7,500 pay raise, and other municipal employees have as well.
On Oct. 1, aldermen unanimously approved a motion to give the mayor a $ 7,500-a-year raise.
They also voted to approve a motion to give the City Judge a $4,000 raise, which was approved unanimously.
In addition, they voted unanimously to:
• Approve a motion to give all Fire Department employees a $1 per hour raise.
• Approve a motion to give all Court Services employees a $1 per hour raise.
• Approve a motion to give all city employees employed for 90 days a $1 per hour raise.
• Approve a motion to give Sanitation employees Blake Howell and Wayne Rogers a $1 per hour raise and Austin Gray a $0.50 per hour raise. The motion was approved unanimously.
• Approve a motion to give Building Officials Jay Eakes and Sherrie Acton a $1 per hour raise. The motion was approved unanimously.
• Approve a motion to give City Hall employees a $1.00 per hour raise. The motion was approved unanimously.
• Approve a motion to put into place the Police Department’s new ranking structure with pay raises associated with those rankings and a $1 per hour raise for administration positions. The motion was approved unanimously.
