It was an up-and-down week for the Union basketball teams with each picked up one win in the final week of the regular season.

The Union girls lost a 58-49 overtime contest to Sebastopol on Tuesday before beating J.Z. George 47-37 on Thursday.

The Union boys fell to J.Z. George 52-38 but bounced back to take a thrilling 43-42 win over Sebastopol.

The Union boys finished as the No. 5 seed and will play No. 4 seed in a play-in game on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The winner will face top-seeded Philadelphia on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

The Union girls finished as the No. 3 seed and will take on Sebastopol on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Union girls 47, J.Z. George 37

The Lady Yellowjackets overcame an early deficit and took a 10-point win over the Lady Jaguars to finish out the regular season on Thursday.

Rymia Craft led Union with 20 points while Gracyn Tillman had 13 points. Kasten Anderson also chipped in seven points.

J.Z. George boys 52, Union 38

The Jaguars pulled away at the end of each half and took 14-point win over the Yellowjackets in district play.

Zie Buckley led Union with 11 points while Aiden Davis and Mason Tucker each had 10 points apiece.

Sebastopol girls 58, Union 49

The Lady Bobcats used a furious fourth-period rally to force overtime and then kept going as they took a nine-point win over the Lady Yellowjackets on Tuesday.

Rymia Craft led Union with 27 points while Gracyn Tillman had 15 points. Destiny Campbell also had five points for Union.

Union boys 43, Sebastopol 42

The Bobcats were unable to hold onto a big first-half lead as the Yellowjackets rallied and took a one-point win.

Aiden Davis led Union with 17 points while Zie Buckley had 16 points. Kobe Hutchins also chipped in seven points for the Yellowjackets.
