Yellowjackets' squads trying to find rhythm on court
The Union Lady Yellowjackets won two out of three games last week.
The Lady Yellowjackets opened the week with a tight 31-30 loss to Philadelphia on Monday and then followed that up with a 59-26 win over Eupora on Friday and a 49-16 win over Clarkdale on Saturday.
Union will return to action as they host Choctaw County on Tuesday and Sebastopol on Thursday.
Union girls 49, Clarkdale 16
The Lady Yellowjackets outscored the Lady Bulldogs in every period and cruised to a 33-point win on Saturday.
Union dominated the first half, outscoring Clarkdale 19-4 in the first period and 16-5 in the se and period to lead 35-9 at the half. Union continued to extend the lead in the se and half, outscoring Clarkdale 11-6 in the third and 3-1 in the fourth.
Destiny Campbell led Union with 21 points while Rymia Cat had 13 points. Gracyn Tillman also had 10 points for the Lady Yellowjackets.
Clarkdale boys 44, Union 38
The Bulldogs pulled away in the fourth to take a tight six-point win over the Yellowjackets.
Clarkdale led 12-4 at the end of the first while Union outscored the Bulldogs 17-13 in the second to cut the lead to 25-21. Union took the third period 11-10 to cut the lead to 35-32. Clarkdale took the fourth period 9-6 for the final margin.
Aiden Davis led Union with 13 points while Kobe Hutchins also scored 11 points.
Union girls 59, Eupora 26
The Lady Yellowjackets outscored the Lady Eagles in every period and took a 33-point win on Friday in division play.
Union outscored Eupora 17-10 in the first period and 16-9 in the second to lead 33-19 at the half. Union put the game away in the third period, outscoring Eupora 20-7 in the third to lead 53-26 going to the fourth. Union took the fourth period 6-0 for the final margin.
Gracyn Tillman led Union with 18 points while Destiny Campbell had 16 points. Rymia Craft had nine points while Kasten Anderson had eight points.
Eupora boys 66, Union 47
The Eagles outscored the Yellowjackets in every period and pulled away to take a 19-point win in division play.
The first half was tight as Eupora outscored Union 13-9 in the first and 15-13 in the second to lead 28-22 at the half. Eupora continued to extend the lead in the second half, outscoring Union 18-14 in the third and 20-11 in the fourth.
Mason Tucker led Union with a season-high 23 points while Aiden Davis had 13 points.
Philadelphia girls 31, Union 30
The Lady Yellowjackets weren’t able to hold onto an early lead and dropped a one-point contest to the Lady Tornadoes on Monday.
Union led 11-4 at the end of the first while Philly took the second period 7-6 as the Lady Yellowjackets led 17-11 at the half. Philly rallied in the second half, outscoring Union 10-7 in the third and 10-6 in the fourth.
Dinaiya Blaylock led Union with nine points while Gracyn Tillman had seven points. Destiny Campbell also had five points.
Philadelphia boys 50, Union 22
The Tornadoes used a big second period and took a 28-point win over the Yellowjackets.
Philly held a slim 13-10 lead at the end of the first and then outscored Union 25-3 in the second to lead 38-13 at the half. Philly then outscored Union 8-7 in the third and 4-2 in the fourth for the final margin.
Aiden Davis led Union with nine points.
