Yellowjackets softball, baseball bests Sebastopol
Both the Union softball and baseball teams enjoyed big weeks against rival Sebastopol.
The Union softball team improved to 15-10 on the season with a pair of wins over Sebastopol to claim the Division 4-2A championship last week, winning 2-1 on Tuesday and 7-1 on Thursday.
The Union baseball team also took two wins over Sebastopol, winning 12-2 on Tuesday and 8-6 on Friday. The Yellowjackets improved to 13-8 on the season and finished second in Division 4-2A play.
Union softball
The Lady Yellowjackets got solid pitching and hitting from Alanee Wheeler and took a pair of wins over Sebastopol to take the division championship last week, winning 2-1 on Tuesday and 7-1 on Thursday.
On Tuesday, Union got a pair of solo home runs from Wheeler to take a 2-1 win. Wheeler homered in the fourth and sixth innings in the win. Union had five hits as Landry Bishop, Tiara Campbell and Abigail Cleveland also had singles. In the circle, Wheeler pitched all seven innings and gave up one run on two hits while striking out 10.
Union completed the sweep on Thursday with a 7-1 win over the Lady Bobcats. Sebastopol scored one in the first while Union scored two in the second, one in the fourth and four in the sixth. Union had eight hits as Destiny Moulds was 2-for-4 with two runs scored while Abigail Cleveland was also 2-for-4 with a double. Raleigh Dickerson doubled while Tiara Campbell had two RBIs. Alanee Wheeler pitched all seven innings again and gave up one unearned run on four hits while striking out seven.

The Yellowjackets took a big two-game sweep over Sebastopol last week in division play, winning 12-2 on Tuesday and 8-6 on Friday.
On Tuesday, Union won 12-2, thanks to a seven-run fifth innings. Union had 10 hits in the contest, led by Tanner Watkins who was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Rafe Manning was 2-for-4 with a double. Jackson Flake doubled while Sawyer Robinson and Mason Tucker each had two RBIs. Austin Lee, Kooper Fultz and Jacob Freeman each scored two runs for the Yellowjackets. Fultz pitched all five innings and gave up two unearned runs on one hit and three walks to get the win.
On Friday, Union held on to take an 8-6 win over the Bobcats and sweep the series. Union scored one in the first and fourth while adding three in the fifth and sixth. Sebastopol scored two in the sixth and four in the seventh. Union had six hits and drew seven walks. Sawyer Robinson was 3-for-3 while Jacob Freeman singled and drove in three runs. Austin Lee and Kooper Fultz each scored two runs apiece.
