The beautiful fall evening provided the perfect backdrop for the gridiron contest between the Union Yellow Jackets and the Choctaw County Chargers.

The final score, however, proved to be a less than perfect outcome for the Yellow Jackets. The score was Chargers 39, Yellow Jackets 6.

Union received the opening kick, but were unsuccessful in moving the ball. The Jackets punted to the Chargers. Choctaw County scored on a 23-yard run by Conner Jewell. The PAT was successful. The Chargers led 7-0 at the 7:48 mark of the first quarter.

As the game clock ticked, the miscues continued for the Jackets. At the 4:49 mark of the first quarter, Charger Antonio Kennedy scored on a 2-yard touchdown run and Choctaw County led 14-0.

The second quarter was dominated by the Chargers. They added two more touchdowns and one more PAT in the second quarter. The Choctaw County quarterback Conner Jewell was the leading offensive player for the first half. When the half-time buzzer sounded the score was, Chargers 27-0.

The second half of the contest began with Choctaw County receiving the kickoff. The Chargers had a time-consuming drive that took until the 4:20 mark of the third quarter. The drive resulted in a nine-yard touchdown run by Antonio Kennedy. PAT by the Chargers was unsuccessful. The score was 33- 0 after three quarters.

The fourth quarter began with a Union punt, which resulted in a 76-yard touchdown for the Chargers. The score was 39-0. With 3:15 to go in the contest, Union spoiled the shut out. U’Darrian Hickman ran for a two-yard touchdown. The Jackets gave all they had, but the Charger offensive attack was just too much. The Jackets will face the Southeast Lauderdale Tigers at home Friday. This will be the Yellow Jackets’ first Region 5-3A game.
