The offense of the Union Yellow Jackets was as hot as the late Mississippi summer temperatures.

When the horn blew on Friday night the final score was Union 39 Choctaw Central 13.

The star of the night was Kenyon Clay. Clay ran for 210 yards, along with scoring three rushing touchdowns. He passed for 151 yards and two touchdowns.

The offensive supporting cast behind Clay was also stellar. Xavier Boler, A.J. Wilson, and Ky’Yon Harris made great contributions in rushing yards. Brandon Killens, Kaleb Casey, Matthew Lott, Ky’Yon Harris and Xavier Boler all made great contributions in receiving yards and touchdowns for the Jackets.

The defensive side of the ball also contributed to the cause of the black and gold. Thirteen different Jackets contributed to the success of Union’s defensive play. Those Jackets were William Hughlett, Eli Rigdon, Ky’Yon Harris, Cameron Hickman, Tank Harrison, Cameron Jackson, Nate Killen, Jaylon Rogers, Tristan Wallace, Xavier Boler, Carson Kennedy, Germaine Pickens and Davarian McDonald. This defensive core forced three turnovers by the Warriors.

The final stats of the game showed a very balanced attack by the Jackets. Union had 259 rushing yards and 168 passing yards.

Next week the Yellow Jackets will host the Scott Central Rebels. Choctaw Central will travel to Cherokee, N.C., to play in the “Battle of Nations” game.
