It was all smiles for Coach Jordan Wren and the Union Yellowjacket football team Friday night as UHS scored early and often against the McAdams Bulldogs in a season opening 51-8 blowout win at home.

It was quite an impressive performance for the boys in black and gold as Coach Wren enjoyed his first win as head coach.

Union quarterback Kenyon Clay, completed 10-of-13 passes for 162 yards and four touchdowns to three different receivers. The Yellowjackets put 37 points on the board in the first half, along with a 29 point outburst in the second quarter. A swarming Jacket defense held the Bulldogs to 34 yards in the first half. The fast scoring offense rolled to the locker room with a 37-0 lead at halftime. Union did not have to punt the entire game.

Union outgained McAdams 274-129 in total yardage, despite only having 13:32 time of possession all night long. The Jackets scoring was fast and furious. Markus Jones led the Jackets in receiving with three catches for 53 yards and a touchdown, while Jaylon Buckley, Dylan Harrison and Caleb Casey each had a TD reception.  Jaylon Buckley rushed for 67 yards on 7 carries to lead the Yellowjacket running backs. Union’s kick returner, Cameron Jackson electrified the limited crowd in the fourth quarter, taking a kickoff all the way back for a 97-yard touchdown return to cap off a scoring slugfest for the Jackets.

The Jackets advance to 1-0 to kick off 2020, while McAdams falls to 0-2. UHS will hit the road to take on the Eupora Eagles next Friday night, while the Bulldogs head to Ethel.
