Wreck sends children, mom to hospital

Three children and their mother were transported to the hospital after they suffered injuries in a wreck that blocked traffic near Bobby’s Country Store for an hour on Monday.

The wreck occurred at about noon at the intersection of Highway 482 and Highway 16.

The driver of a black F150 traveling east on Highway 16 attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Highway 482.

Neshoba County Sheriff’s Deputy Trent Rickles said the truck pulled out in front of a smaller sedan driven by the mother, believed to be in her late 20s, carrying her three children.

“The whole intersection was shut down for an hour,” Rickles said.

According to Rickles, the driver of the truck, a male in his 60s, and the mother were transported to the Choctaw Health Center.

Rickles said the three children were all airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. The children included an infant who received serious injuries.

The other children were a male, approximately 11 years old, and a female, approximately 8 years old. Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said they were both transported to Jackson with broken bones.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating this incident, but has not released any names.
