A woman was arrested at the Neshoba County Fairgrounds Tuesday evening after she stole a truck unloading at a cabin.

Aimee J. Mason, 43, 1720 Road 339, was arrested and charged with motor vehicle theft, burglary of a motor vehicle and possession of paraphernalia.

Sheriff Eric Clark said that deputies arrested Mason after an incident on the Fairgrounds on Tuesday evening between 7:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. in the 900 section of fair cabins.

Clark said the woman reportedly stole a white Ford F 350 parked outside of a cabin between cabins 900 and 910. He said the owner of the truck and family member then pursued her through the Fairgrounds.

“I don’t really know what was going through her mind at the time,” Clark said.

Clark said that she was stopped near the horse barn and confronted by the owner. Clark said that at this point she attempted to flee on foot dropped her purse which had a pistol that had been in the truck and an envelope containing documents related to the truck.

The owner and others around the horse barn were able to hold the woman there until deputies arrived on the scene. Clark said that Mason was arrested without incident.

Clark said that Mason was staying on the Fairgrounds at the time at a cabin near the one where the truck was stolen.

Clark said that deputies who talked to her said she seemed "incoherent" at the time.

Mason remains in the Neshoba County Detention Center.
