A Hattiesburg woman faces public intoxication and other charges here as well as a stolen vehicle charge in Calhoun County, the authorities said.

The woman, Linda Kaye Oswalt, 52, 2749 Oak Grove Road, Hattiesburg, was arrested and charged here with public intoxication, no driver's license and no vehicle insurance, Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said.

Deputies encountered Oswalt the afternoon of Thursday, May 11, on Highway 15 south near the intersection with Road 337. Oswalt was found lying in the road near an abandoned 2006 Ford Explorer with hazard lights flashing. When deputies first encountered Oswalt they reported that she appeared to be distraught and under the influence.

Deputies soon discovered the vehicle was reported stolen out of Houston, Mississippi, in Calhoun County.

Clark said Oswalt was extradited into the custody of Houston Police on Monday, May 15. The vehicle was recovered by the owner later that day, he said.
