Woman arrested for embezzling from Doc’s

More charges are pending for an Ackerman woman arrested and charged here last week for embezzling over $70,000 from Doc’s Toyota, the authorities said.

The woman, Latisha Smith, 50, 88 South Louisville Street, Ackerman, was arrested on a felony embezzlement warrant, according to Philadelphia Police Chief Eric Lyons.

Smith has been an employee at Doc’s Toyota for nearly three years. Lyons said Smith turned herself in at the Winston County Jail on Monday, April 10.

Smith has reportedly embezzled over $71,000 from the company since the dealership moved to Highway 16 in October.

“More charges of embezzlement are expected in Louisville where Docs Toyota was before moving to Philadelphia where possible reports of thousands more being embezzled from the Louisville location,” Lyons said.

She was booked into the Winston County jail and has since been released on a $25,000 bond.
