A woman accused of stealing a pickup truck being unloaded at a cabin on the Neshoba County Fairgrounds last Tuesday is out on Bond.

Aimee J. Mason, 43, 1720 Road 339, was arrested and charged with motor vehicle theft, burglary of a motor vehicle and possession of paraphernalia.

Records show she was released from the Neshoba County Detention Center Saturday morning on a $40,600 bond.

Sheriff Eric Clark said deputies arrested Mason after the incident on July 13 at about 7:30 p.m. in the 900 section.

Clark said the woman reportedly stole a white Ford F350 parked outside of a cabin between Cabin 900 and Cabin 910. He said the owner of the truck and a family member then pursued the woman through the Fairgrounds.

“I don’t really know what was going through her mind at the time,” Clark said.

She was stopped near the horse barns and confronted by the owner, Clark said. At that point she attempted to flee on foot and dropped her purse which contained a pistol that had been in the truck along with an envelope containing documents related to the truck, Clark said.

The owner and some men around the horse barns were able to hold the woman until deputies arrived, Clark said, and Mason was arrested without incident.

Mason was staying on the Fairgrounds in a cabin near the one where the truck was stolen, Clark said.

Deputies who talked to her on the scene said she seemed “incoherent” at the time, Clark said.
