Neshoba County received approval from the Mississippi Wireless Communications Commission for the deployment of MSWIN radios to the county’s volunteer fire departments, the Road Department and other county entities.

Supervisors were notified of the commission’s decision during their meeting last Tuesday.

Earlier this year, supervisors accepted a $1,680,060 bid for ComSouth to purchase 394 MSWIN radios and complete the infrastructure for the new system. The board plans to use American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) monies for the purchase.

Locally, the Sheriff’s Department along with the Philadelphia police and fire departments have already transitioned to the MSWIN radio system.

In another matter, supervisors received 10 bids for the construction of a spec building in the industrial park which will be purchased by Taylor Machines. It will be located between two other buildings Taylor owns.

When completed, the building will have 7,600 square feet. It will have three bays including one that is 65 feet tall. It is being projected to be used for repair work on large forklifts, cranes and other machinery.
