Winona proves too tough for Tornadoes as they fall 46-15

The Philadelphia Tornadoes took it on the chin Friday night when they dropped a 46-15 decision to Winona in prep football action.

The Tornadoes, now 0-4, visit West Lauderdale this Friday night. The Knights come in at 4-0.

Winona led 19-0 at the end of the first quarter. Philadelphia got on the scoreboard in the second quarter. Tigers poured in on in the second quarter and took a 32-0 lead. Then, with 1:19 left in the half, Tornado quarterback Dee Burnside connected with Jae Boler on a 15-yard TD pass play. The kick was good and the Tigers led 32-7.

Winona came back and scored on a 26-yard pass play. At the half, the Tigers led 39-7.

The second half was played with running clock. Winona’s second team scored in the third quarter on a 53-yard run. The kick was good and the Tigers led 46-7.

In the fourth quarter, C.J. Rush scored on a 12-yard run. Austin Donald scored the two-point conversion to end the scoring.
