Willis Ross Townsend

Funeral services for Mr. Willis Ross Townsend were held at 2 PM Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Sandtown Methodist Church with Rev. John E. Stephens officiating. Interment was in Sandtown Methodist Church Cemetery. John E. Stephens Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Townsend, 81, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Choctaw Residential Center in Philadelphia, MS. He lived most of his life in the Sandtown Community and was a member of Sandtown Methodist Church.

He worked at U.S. Motors for many years and his hobby was riding his golfcart.

Mr. Townsend is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Sue Townsend; parents, Buck and Ester Townsend; sisters, Marie Crawford, Maxine Reynolds, and Jane Partin.

Survivors include his stepdaughters, Janice Chamblee (Harry), Nancy Seward, Tammy Ward (Bebo); stepson, James M. “Pete” McNair; (5) grandchildren; (6) great-grandchildren; (2) great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
