High school football action was in full-swing this past Friday night as three area schools met on the gridiron for the second week of public school matchups.

The long road-trip to North Carolina was no problem for Choctaw Central, as they defeated rival Cherokee High School, 26-13.

Keyshawn Ben had another massive game for the Warriors, totalling 264 yards and a touchdown through the air, while also gaining 141 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

The 2-0 Warriors will host Philadelphia this Friday.

Philadelphia

Philadelphia fell to powerhouse Noxubee County on the road Friday night, by a score of 39-7. Four-star Mississippi State quarterback commit Kamario Taylor proved to be too much for the Tornadoes to handle in this one, but CJ Rush had a nice night on the ground for Philadelphia, totalling 67 yards on 10 carries.

Philadelphia, who fell to 0-2 on the season, will be on the road once again this Friday, as they travel to take on Choctaw Central.

Neshoba Central

The Neshoba Central Rockets were defeated by defending 4A state champion, Louisville, in their home opener Friday night in a 22-0 shutout.

There were some bright spots for the Rockets, however, as running back Mekhi Gaddis ran for 87 yards on 18 carries.

Neshoba Central will be back at home Friday in a matchup against West Lauderdale.
