Warriors still in running for top seed in region
The Choctaw Central Warriors have four Region 4-4A games left to play as they close out their 2021-2022 schedule next Friday.
The Warriors were to play West Lauderdale Tuesday and Leake Central Thursday. Next week, they host Northeast Lauderdale and close out at home against Louisville. The Warriors stood at 19-3 overall and 3-2 at the start of the week. If they win out, they have a shot at the top seed in the upcoming Region 4-4A tournament which will be held at Kosciusko the week of February 7.
The Choctaw Central boys picked up a forfeit win over Kosciusko last week because of COVID-19. They defeated Louisville 65-31 and Choctaw County 91-42.

Choctaw Central took the early lead and held on to beat Louisville in a region game.
The Warriors led 14-3 at the end of the first quarter. They outscored the Wildcats 16-8 in the second quarter and led 30-11 at the half. It was more of the same in the second half as the Warriors outscored Louisville 35-20 in the final two quarters.
Elias Bell led with 14 points, Johnny Vaughn added 13 points while Dreydon Tubby scored 12 and Thomas Tubby put in 11.

The Warriors went up 40-22 at the half as they blew out the host team at the Choctaw County shootout Saturday.
It was more of the same in the second has as the Warriors had a 50-20 scoring edge.
Vaughn led with 19 points while Tangle added 16 points. Tubby scored 14,
The Choctaw Central girls are undefeated in the regular and are assured of the top seed if they win out. The Lady Warriors have the four region games. Saturday, they play Holmes Central in Tupelo at the Robinson Invitational. Last week, the Lady Warriors defeated Louisville 61-60 and Kosciusko 52-32

Choctaw Central battled through the fourth quarter to take a one point win over their regional rivals.
The Lady Warriors led 31-30 at the half. Louisville outscored the Lady Warriors 18-12 in the third round and trailed 48-43 heading into the final quarter. Choctaw Central outscored the Lady Wildcats 18-12 in the final eight minutes to claim the win.
Mattison Bell led with 21 while Malaka Morris added 13 and Kylinn Bell put in 11 points.
