Warriors, Rockets pick up needed wins
Choctaw Central got back into the win column Friday night, defeating Leake Central 27-16, to end a two-game losing streak. Keyshawn Ben once again led the Warriors in this one, with 135 total yards and two total touchdowns in the matchup. Choctaw Central now sits at 5-2 overall with a 1-1 record in region play and will be back in action Friday with a region matchup on the road against West Lauderdale, who is currently leading the region with a perfect 2-0 record.

Neshoba Central continues to find their form in region play, as they came away with a tough 19-14 home win over Columbus on Friday night, moving to 3-4 on the season overall and 2-0 in region play. The Rockets were led by an absolutely monster performance from running back Mekhi Gaddis, who ran for 295 yards and two touchdowns on the game. Gaddis’ rushing total on the season now sits at 909 yards and eight touchdowns in six games, according to MaxPreps, which is good for an average of 151.5 rushing yards per game. Neshoba Central will be back in action on Friday night, as they travel to take on the only other undefeated team in the region in Warren Central.

Philadelphia fell to a very tough Kemper County team on Friday night, in a 40-22 non-region home loss. The loss drops the Tornadoes to 2-6 overall, but they are still in prime playoff position, sitting at a perfect 2-0 in region play at this point in the season. Philadelphia will shift their focus back to region play this week with a road matchup with Eupora, before hosting Union the week after to wrap up region play and the regular season overall.
