Warriors drop first game of the season
Choctaw Central suffered their first loss of the season Thursday night, falling 26-20 in a road matchup with Bay Springs. Keyshawn Ben had another great game for the Warriors with 207 total yards and three total touchdowns on the night. Choctaw Central will have a bye week this week, before opening region play on the road against Newton County on October 11th.
For Choctaw Central, they have been the best team in the region through non-region play, sitting at 4-1 on the season so far. Other top teams in their region so far have included West Lauderdale (2-3) and Northeast Lauderdale (2-4). They will travel to West Lauderdale, before hosting Northeast Lauderdale later in the season.
Philadelphia fell to 0-5 with a 39-12 home loss to West Lauderdale on Friday night. The Tornadoes will look to turn things around and pick up their first win of the season in their region opener on the road against J.Z. George this Friday night.
For Philadelphia, Sebastopol (5-1) and Eupora (3-2) have been the top teams in their region so far and will be the key matchups in region play for the Tornadoes. They will host Sebastopol, while traveling to Eupora.
Neshoba Central fell to 1-4 on the season with a 26-7 loss to Canton on Friday night, wrapping up their gauntlet of a non-region schedule. The Rockets will shift their focus towards region play, with a bye week this week before opening their region schedule with a road matchup against Vicksburg on October 11th.
For Neshoba Central, Warren Central (2-3), Ridgeland (3-2), and Columbus (2-2) have seemingly been the teams to beat in their region through the season so far and will be key matchups to watch in the Rocket’s region schedule. They will travel to face Warren Central and Ridgeland, while hosting Columbus.
