The Choctaw Central Warriors saw their 2020 football season come to an end Friday as they dropped a 38-24 decision to Pontotoc in the first round of the Class 4A football playoffs.

The Warriors finished the season which had been turned upside down by the COVID-19 pandemic with a 2-6 record. They advance to the second round to play Clarksdale.

Down 7-0 in the first quarter, the Warriors got on the scoreboard on a 79-yard TD pass from Jeriah Jimmie to Elias Bell. The kick was blocked and Choctaw Central trailed 7-6.

Pontotoc added another touchdown. Then Trevell Vivians stripped the ball from a Pontotoc runner. He picked it up and ran 14 yards for the touchdown. The extra point failed and the Warriors trailed 14-12.

The Warriors put together a 97-yard drive that resulted in a touchdown run by Eli Joe. The extra point failed and the Warriors led 18-14.

The Warriors missed a couple of opportunities in the third quarter. Meanwhile, Pontotoc scored two touchdowns and went up 28-18.

Pontotoc scored a touchdown and a field goal in the fourth quarter to go up 35-18. Then Choctaw Central put together its best drive of the game when Jimmie completed a TD pass to Traiton Martin.
