In a nail-biting physical battle between the Union High School Yellow Jackets and the Forst High Bearcats, the final shot determined the winner.

The winner was Union 44-41.

Forest had the lead at the end of the first quarter with a score of 11-9.  The Bearcats continued holding the lead until half-time with a score of 23-19. When the third quarter concluded Forest had extended their lead to 31-25. The Jackets would rally in the fourth quarter to pull out the victory.

Kamarion Rushing led the scoring for the Jackets and was active in offensive and defensive rebounding. He also had three steals during the game.

When the buzzer sounded, Rushing had a total of 15 points. Keon Hutchins contributed to the Jackets’ victory with three free throws, two offensive rebounds, one defensive rebound, two assists, and five steals.

Michael Lee Buffington added two, two point shots, three free throws, and three offensive rebounds. Mason Tucker added a successful three pointer and an assist. Union’s score continued to build as Johannes Hellman made a two pointer and added two assists. William Hughlett made a two point shot, one offensive rebound and one steal in the Jackets winning effort.

Udarian Hickmon brought home the victory for Union the old-fashioned way. In the final minute of the game, Hickmon in a fast break made a layup and drew the foul. Number 5 went to the free throw line and with 37 seconds left he made the free throw.

The layup by Hickmon put the Jackets ahead for good.
