Both Union teams split a pair of Division 6-2A teams last week with a sweep of Lake and an unexpected pair of losses to Scott Central.

The Lady Yellowjackets beat Lake 33-19 on Friday but lost 40-39 on a last-second shot by Scott Central.

The Union boys lost 47-41 to Scott Central and then beat Lake 61-27 on Friday to finish the week.

Union will return to action on Tuesday as they host Philadelphia and will then host Stringer on Saturday.

The Lady Rebels made the go-ahead basket with two seconds left in the game to take a one-point win over the Lady Yellowjackets on Tuesday.

Union led 11-7 at the end of the first and 22-20 at the half. Scott Central outscored Union 13-11 in the third to tie the game at 33-33 going into the fourth. Union led by two with two minutes left but couldn't hold the lead as Scott Central took the one-point win.

Keirra Russell led Union with 10 points while Kamyia Russell also had nine points.

The Rebels used a big second period to take a six-point win over the Yellowjackets on Tuesday in division play.


Union led 10-9 at the end of the first but Scott Central outscored the Yellowjackets 17-11 in the second to lead 26-21 at the half. After each team scored 12 points in the third, Scott Central outscored Union 9-8 in the fourth for the final margin.

J.T. Vance led Union with 19 points while P.J. Campbell had 10 points and Jamarcus Jones added six points.

The Lady Yellowjackets outscored the Lady Hornets in three out of the four periods and used a stingy defense to take a 14-point win over the Lady Hornets.

Union led 6-2 at the end of the first and 16-9 at the half. Lake outscored Union 7-3 in the third to cut the lead to 19-16 going into the fourth. Union finished by outscoring Lake 14-3 in the fourth for the final margin.

Keirra Russell led Union with 15 points.

The Yellowjackets dominated the action and took a 34-point win over the Hornets on Friday.

Union led 13-6 at the end of the first and then outscored Lake 17-4 in the second to lead 30-10 at the half. Union put the game away in the third, outscoring Lake 19-5 to take a 49-15 lead into the fourth where each team scored 12 points.
