The Union Lady Yellowjackets continued to pile up the wins on the volleyball court this past week with three more victories.

The Lady Yellowjackets improved to 9-1 on the season as they beat Morton 3-0, Lake 3-0 and Sebastopol 3-1.

“We have been playing pretty well,” Union coach Jacob Casey said. “I would say this week that we didn’t play our best but have been playing good enough to win. I feel like as long as you can find ways to win when you aren’t playing your best, it’s the sign of a good team. I thought Lake and Sebastopol played us tough and have gotten a lot better since this summer. We had to play well at both places to get the victories.”

On Monday, Union beat Morton 3-0 for a district win. Union won 25-9, 25-11 and 25-10 to cruise to victory.

On Tuesday, Union beat Lake 3-0 as well, winning 25-16, 25-21 and 25-12.

On Thursday, Union finished the week with a 3-1 win over Sebastopol. The Lady Bobcats won the first set 25-23 before Union won the next three, 25-12, 30-28 and 25-20.

This week, Union is scheduled — weather permitting — to go to East Webster on Tuesday and play Stringer at home on Thursday.

“We will get tested this week,” Casey said. “Those are two pretty good teams. East Webster has really good athletes and will be very competitive. I haven’t seen Stringer but they have been beating everybody. It’s going to be two very good tests before we start district play.”
