The Union girls ran their record to 12-0 on the season with two more wins this past week.

The Lady Yellowjackets took a pair of wins, beating Philadelphia 36-27 and Newton County 46-30.

The Yellowjackets lost both of their games as they fell 45-29 to Philly and 63-41 to Newton County.

Union will play in the Lamar School Tournament this week as the girls take on Northeast Lauderdale on Monday at 11:45 a.m. The Union girls will play the winner of West Lauderdale and Sylva Bay on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. The championship game is set for Wednesday at 6 p.m.

The Union boys will take on Newton County Academy on Monday at 1 p.m., with the winner taking on the winner of West Lauderdale and St. Patrick’s on Tuesday at 4:45 p.m.

The Lady Yellowjackets got off to a fast start in each half and used that advantage to take a 9-point win over the Lady Tornadoes.

Union jumped out to a 16-7 lead in the first period, but Philly took the second period 8-4 to lead 20-15 at the half. Union then outscored Philly 10-1 in the third to lead 30-16, going to the fourth. Philadelphia outscored Union 11-6 in the fourth for the final margin.

Kamiya Russell led Union with 14 points, while Keirra Russell had 10 points. Georgia Cooper also chipped in 5 points.
