Union baseball picks up pair of wins over J.Z. George

The Union baseball team took two of three wins last week, sweeping J.Z. George before falling to Lake on Saturday.

On Tuesday, Union hammered J.Z. George 23-0 with a no-hit effort. Kooper Fultz was 3-for-3 with five RBIS while Austin Lee was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs. Jacob Freeman was 2-for-3 while Sawyer Robinson was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Jackson

On Friday, Union took another run-rule win over J.Z. George with a 12-1 victory. Union had 11 hits in the contest, led by Austin Lee who was 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Kooper Fultz was 2-for-3 with four RBIs while Jackson Flake was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

On Saturday, Union lost 16-3 to Union in a seven-inning contest. Lake outhit Union 15-4 while the Yellowjackets had 10 errors in the field. Union had just four hits as Mason Tucker was 2-for-4 while Jacob Freeman doubled. Tanner Watkins started and pitched four innings while Kooper Fultz, Jacob Freeman, Rafe Manning and Ryder Burr all pitched in relief.

Union, now 8-5, will play at Choctaw Central on Tuesday and host the Warriors on Friday before playing Newton on Saturday.
