Two injured in downtown accident

A multi-vehicle accident downtown on Main Street resulted in minor injuries on Wednesday.

A vehicle in the right lane on Main attempted to make a left turn across traffic at Poplar Avenue, which caused the accident, according to Police Chief Eric Lyons.

“At the time, it appeared to have several vehicles involved, but these were bystanders who got out of their vehicle attempting to help,” Lyons said. “It was reported as an entrapment, but there was no entrapment.”

Only minor injuries were reported in the accident at about 10:30 a.m., and two individuals were transported by ambulance to the hospital, Lyons said.

Traffic was blocked for about 15 minutes to make way for wreckers coming in to clear the road.
