Tribe to hold public hearings on marijuana referendum

The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians will hold a series of public hearings ahead of a referendum this summer on the decriminalization and regulation of marijuana possession, production, and distribution on Tribal lands.

The hearings will allow members of the Office of the Tribal Chief and Tribal Council to speak directly with citizens and answer questions about the referendum. Hearings will be held across all eight Choctaw communities.

Public hearing dates, times, and locations are as follows:

• Bogue Homa—Monday, May 12 | 5:30–7 p.m. | BH Community CERF Building;

• Crystal Ridge—Wednesday, May 14 | 5:30–7 p.m. | CR Community CERF Building;

• Bogue Chitto—Thursday, May 15 | 5:30–7 p.m. | BC Community CERF Building;

• Bogue Chitto–Henning, TN—Saturday, May 17 | 2 –3:30 p.m. | Henning Community CERF Building;

• Pearl River—Monday, May 19 | 5:30–7 p.m. | PR Community CERF Building;

• Red Water—Wednesday, May 21 | 5:30–7 p.m. | RW Community CERF Building;

• Standing Pine—Thursday, May 22 | 5:30–7 p.m. | SP Community CERF Building;

• Conehatta—Tuesday, May 27 | 5:30–7 p.m. | Conehatta Community CERF Building;

• Tucker—Wednesday, May 28 | 5:30–7 p.m. | Tucker Community CERF Building.
