Tribe celebrates new childhood center

The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Pearl River Early Childhood Center (PRECC) last Friday.

On hand to recognize this great day and to cut the ribbon were Tribal Chief Cyrus Ben, 2019-2021 Choctaw Princess Elisah Jimmie, Tribal Council Representatives Nigel Gibson (Pearl River) and Loriann Ahshapanek (Standing Pine), Early Childhood Education Department Director Tina Routh, PRECC Director Brendon Williams, and 2020-2021 American Indian Day Princess and Brave Talia Ben and Jacob Frazier.

Following the ceremony, Chief Ben and Princess Elisah visited students, and Chief Ben read to students.

"It was a great celebration, and we hope the students and staff enjoy their new center!" officials said.
