Tornadoes undefeated in region action
Philadelphia continues to roll in region play, as they defeated Eupora 27-20 to stay at the top of the region standings, improving to 3-6 overall and 3-0 in region play. Christopher Rush has been a dominant force for the Tornadoes this season, carrying the load in the running game this season. That win over Eupora sets up a huge matchup on Friday night, as the Tornadoes will host Union for a region title and the one-seed in the region going into the playoffs. Kickoff for that matchup is set for 7 PM at Philadelphia High School.

Choctaw Central football took a tough 40-14 loss at the hands of region-leading West Lauderdale on Friday night, falling to 5-3 overall and 1-2 in region play. The loss sets up an extremely important game against Northeast Lauderdale this week, as the Warriors will need a win to earn a playoff spot in Region 4-4A. Northeast Lauderdale is currently winless in the region, but would earn the fourth playoff spot in the region with a win over Choctaw Central. The Warriors will host that matchup on Thursday night, with kickoff set for 7 PM.

Neshoba Central fell in a 19-7 slugfest against region-leading Warren Central last Friday night, falling to 3-5 overall and 2-1 in region play. Zach Ruffin led the Rockets on offense, hauling in 95 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown on the night, while the Rocket defense was led by Dristen Carter with ten total tackles. Neshoba Central will have a chance to create some separation for second place in the region standings with a road matchup against Ridgeland this Friday, who is one of the teams that they are tied with second place with in the region. Kickoff is set for 7 PM on Friday at Ridgeland High School.
