Tornadoes to take on Lake in region play

The Philadelphia Tornadoes return to action Friday night when they host the Kemper County Wildcats in prep football action.

This will be an important Region 5-2A game for the Tornadoes. Philadelphia stands at 2-0 in the region standings following last Friday’s forfeit win over Lake. Lake decided not to play the game following last week’s tragic death of one of its players. Kemper County comes in at 1-6 following their 30-19 loss to Newton High.

A victory would assure the Tornadoes of second place in the region standings and a home game in first round of the state playoffs. It would also put Philadelphia in line to play for the region championship when they take on Newton High School in the season finale.

“We didn’t like winning by forfeit but now we have to get ready for Kemper County,’’ said Coach David Frey. “They have only  won one game but they have good speed and we can’t take them lightly.”
