Tornadoes sweeps pair from Kemper

After falling to Northwest Rankin on Tuesday, Philadelphia bounced back to take a pair of wins over Kemper County before a packed house on Friday night.

The Lady Tornadoes opened up the action on Friday night with a 56-53 win over Kemper County while the Tornadoes took an 88-79 win over the Wildcats.

Philadelphia will travel to Newton County on Tuesday and then travel to Southeast Lauderdale on Friday.

The Tornadoes scored early and often and held on to take a nine-point win over the Wildcats on Friday.

Philadelphia led 21-13 at the end of the first and outscored Kemper 22-14 in the second to lead 43-27 at the half. Philly outscored Kemper 31-25 in the third to take a 74-52 lead into the fourth.

Jordan Hill and Tanner Boler each scored 22 points while Cisco Wilson had 12 points and Ira Chambers added eight points.

The Lady Tornadoes got a big game from Nia Luckett and took a three-point win over the Lady Wildcats on Friday.

Philly took control in the first half as they outscored Kemper 14-8 in the first and 16-12 in the second to lead 30-20 at the half. Philly extended the lead to 46-35 going into the fourth where Kemper used a 17-12 advantage for the final margin.

Nia Luckett had another big game with 28 points while Shaytrice Mingo and Zharia Leflore each had seven points. Jaiden Burnside also chipped in six points.

The Cougars built a big lead and took a 23-point win over the Tornadoes on Tuesday.

Northwest Rankin led 15-9 at the end of the first and outscored Philly 29-12 in the second to lead 44-21 at the half. Northwest outscored Philly 18-14 in the third to take a 62-35 lead. Philadelphia took the fourth period 22-18 for the final margin.

Tanner Boler led Philly with 12 points while Ira Chambers had nine points and Iverson Eiland added seven points.

The Lady Tornadoes were able to hold an early lead as the Lady Cougars took a hard-fought two-point win.

Philadelphia led 13-7 at the end of the first before Northwest Rankin outscored the Lady Tornadoes 19-11 in the second to lead 26-24 at the half. Philly outscored Northwest 11-9 in the third to tie the game at 35-35 going to the fourth.

Nia Luckett led Philly with 28 points while Shaytrice Mingo had eight points and Zharia Leflore added seven points.
